African Safari is supposed to be true story told to me (us), by my good friend and co-worker Don L. In Ontario, Canada, there is this conservation called "African Lion Safari". Here exhibiting animals is completely different from the traditional approach; that is, the visitor is caged in the car, and the animals roam in 2 to 20 hectare (5 to 50 acre) reserves. The park houses in excess of 1000 animals of over 100 species. No responsibility is accepted for damage to vehicles or trailers.
Years ago, one of the summer days certain family from Barrie Ontario decided to take their kids to visit the place. After couple of hours driving, before arriving at the park they stopped for lunch nearby. Hot summer day, so father had a beer together with his meal. On to the African Safari park; everyone really enjoyed the Safari trail that takes you through many exotic and native species. All was fine until they got to the elephants. Whatever happened? Some one in the car hit the horn and one of the elephants standing close by didn't like the sound of it and kicked the car, putting big dent in the drivers (fathers) door. No need to say, all being shaken up, they left the park soon after that, stopping in first Gas-bar & restaurant where the father had himself a stiff drink of Whiskey. As the luck had it that day, they had witnessed some kind of fender bender leaving the restaurant. Investigating officer noticing the fresh big dent on their door was under impression they were involved in the accident, and asking questions. There was no way to convince him, and they didn't really want to say anything about their incident at the park. He kept staring at, and checking that dent in the door. Finally with Whiskey breath, tears in his eyes, still shaky father blew up: "I wasn't in this accident, the bloody elephant kicked my car". It took some explaining about "African Safari" park, before they were allowed to leave. After all you don't see many elephants on Ontario highways.
