Bohemian Paradise for Hikers and Campers
Bohemian Paradise or Czech Paradise.Few regions in Czech Republic are endowed with such wealth, such beauty and are so ardently admired as the relatively small area in North-eastern Bohemia, which bears the romantic name of the "Bohemian Paradise". The towns of Jicin, Zelezny Brod, Turnov, Mnichovo Hradiste and Sobotka lie along its perimeter. Past and present merge here in remarkable harmony, and unique natural phenomena form a rare complement to outstanding works of human skill and dexterity. The landscape seems to retain the freshness of spring days; the slow moving clouds of summer days are mirrored in the lakes; castle ruins have lost none of their romantic contours; dignified chateaux and manor houses compete in charm with unique samples of folk architecture, the quietness of fields and orchards with the grandeur of sandstone rock towns, which form so typical a feature of the Czech Paradise.The nature reserve extending over an area of 125 square kilometers, and several others lie in the picturesque undulating country rising in terraces above the surrounding landscape which the basalt peaks and cones set off to advantage. This is in the true sense of the word a paradise for hikers and rock-climbers.
