Cancun Tourism.
Royal Mayan Resort Review, Mexico October 2002.
It was earlier in the year then usual for me to travel, but friend of mine owns the time share in Cancun, Mexico and she invited me to come along together with other people for vacation. It was supposed to be a few of us, but we end up only “The three amigos”. We drove from Barrie to Windsor, where her girlfriend lives, stayed overnight and next day we drove across the border to Detroit and from there flew to Mexico. The Resort is about eight kilometers from the airport. What a place, villa is completely furnished and equipped with all the comforts of home. The large terrace accessible from both bedrooms and the living room offers spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea. It is equipped with everything from dinnerware to a dishwasher... from a corkscrew for your wine to a blender for creating your very own tropical delights.
Their two restaurants, La Conquistador and the Palapa are rated among the best around. Service by all staff was superb. The mini-mart inside the resort is well stocked and the prices are reasonable. There is two swimming pools with swim up bar at one of them, daily activities, Karaoke in the evening. You can also see the evening show, together with dinner for a reasonable price. The grounds are well kept and the beach is gorgeous, but the waves can be a little rough sometimes. We ate at some of the restaurants outside of the resort, one of them, Captains Cove was my favorite. We also visited some of the discos on the strip, went shopping in downtown, and tried parasailing over turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Not to forget the tour to Chichenitza. I had spent a little bit more on this vacation, but it was worth it. Lots of things to do and see, just short on time.
