| Jeseniky is the second highest mountain range in the Czech Republic. The continuous forest cover alternates with places covered by low vegetation. This fact gives rather harsh character to the whole region. The higher elevation and the relief of the country creates many opportunities for alpine skiing and at the same time nearly ideal conditions for cross - country and ski tours. Localization in the north of Moravia and corresponding communication possibilities are the reason why this area is visited mainly by home people and still waiting for its discovery by foreign visitors.
On the vast territory between several mountain ridges there is situated a number of centers. These wide spread territories are typical for good natural conditions supplemented by sporting and technical facilities and necessary catering and accommodation. There is Stare Mesto in the west, the starting point for trips to the nearby surroundings, Petrikov - Ramzova with downhill skiing center and entrance for frequent trips along the mountain range on the northwest. Busy area is Cervenohorske sedlo, whose advantages are sporting terrains and facilities for downhill skiing. In the highest part of the range, there is Petrovy Kameny - Ovcarna - Praded centre offering several good downhill courses and following area of Mala Moravka - Karlov. For the lovers of winter tourism the ridge main line of Hruby Jesenik, with everything that makes such trips so attractive, is ideal. |
