Krusne Mountains are the longest mountain range in Bohemia (130 km). Extensive forest cover with abundant peak bogs at top parts gives specific a bit gloomy character to the whole area. The relief of the country offers number of opportunities for downhill and ski hike fans.
The ridge is easily accessible by many communica tions, climbing up to relatively considerable heights so the ski fans can comfortably use their own or public transport directly to the heart of ski terrains.
Several ski centers have originated within the mountain range. In particular the best equipped area is Klinovec - Bozi Dar with Jachymov in the west. It has available many downhill race courses of various levels of difficulty, terrains for cross-country skiing or hiking. In Jachymov, which is famous for its radium spa, there is also, except of
downhill courses, ski-jump for competitors and the public and biathlon centre, the scene of regular International sport events.
Other centers are of rather local importance. In the west there is for example Abertamy with Plesivec and Pernink, in the central pad Moldava with Nove Mesto, Bournak and Mikulov (popular setting-off point for ski tours, with good sporting facilities and rather modest accommodation), in the east the mountain range Zadni Telnice and Adolfov.
