I have been riding motorcycles on and off ever since I was fifteen. That's
when I got my driver license for small bikes and my first bike, used Jawa
Pijonyr-50cc. Don't laugh too hard, It saved me from the stupid things I did
in my first couple of riding years, and it was good enough for the
Czech roads, by
simply not allowing me to go too fast. The very first thing my father had
done, when we got the bike home, was that he made me to take it apart, clean
everything and rebuild it. All that with his supervision on the sidewalk in
the front of our apartment building Na Petrinach in
Prague. We
had no garage, and that was the only way to do it. After couple of weeks when
all was done and the bike just like new, the day came to go to our Myslin
cottage for a vacation. My father riding Jawa 350 with my mother sitting
behind him followed me just to make sure everything is OK. I guess I passed,
from then on I was allowed to ride on my own. My brother had CZ 250, and most
of our friends had some kind of motorcycle, old or new, so when we were not
fixing something we were riding from early spring to late fall, all over.
Later on I was sometimes riding my good friends old CZ 125, she inherited,
and few times my brothers or fathers bikes, when they let me. When in Canada
my first bike was Honda Hawk, later on Kawasaki 750 and these days I'm riding
Virago 1100. One of these days I'll give up riding, but not
yet, I still enjoy the freedom riding and wind in my face.
