 Sumava, is the most massive mountain range in the
Czech Republic. Big area, sparse population, vast forest cover combined with natural lakes, moorlands, peat bogs and streams forms unique country area typical for its melancholy and majestic peace.
The varied relief creates good conditions for all kinds of ski sports. Vast territory of the mountain range gave origin to several mutually divided ski centers. The oldest, most famous and best equipped area is Zelezna Ruda - Spicak. Large number of downhill, cross- country and tourist courses with profiles of various degrees of demand, sufficient number of cableways, ski lifts, accommodation, catering and social facilities, easy access by the road or railway are ranking this area among the best equipped winter sports centers in the Czech Republic.

There is Zadov - Churanov centre in the central part of
this mountain range. Interesting terrains without big differences in elevation are creating suitable conditions for ski tourism. The cross - country centre with international parameters is situated there and also conditions for downhill skiing.
The youngest mountain centre Kramolin is situated on the eastern end. It has several downhill tracks and necessary number of ski lifts. The progressively designed area above the Lipno Lake uses also many of accommodation and catering facilities on the banks of the lake.
The increasing number of visitors from abroad and the close cooperation between individual places on Czech and German side of the border attracts more and more foreign tourists to Sumava enchanted by its beauty.
