Hawaii - Norm & Kim 25th. Wedding Anniversary
My wife Kim and I visited Hawaii for our 25th Wedding Anniversary in June 2007. We had flown from Toronto to Vancouver and Vancouver to Honolulu. The flight is long but well worth it. We had one full day in Honolulu and then boarded the NCL pride of Hawaii for a seven day cruise. The cruise was less than what we would call enjoyable. NCL has a format for dining called free style cruising. It was far from meeting our expectations. We had trouble finding a place to eat our dinner on the ship. We would always have a wait of up to two hours to get a table. They would only take reservations for party's of eight or more. So after a few days people would get two or three couples together and make reservations for eight. This caused a problem as many tables would only have four or six people sitting at them, causing even more delays. The ship itself was nice, however you should not be concerned where you are going to get your next meal on a cruise ship? The Hawaiian Islands are very beautiful and the people very friendly. We kept ourselves very busy with an excursion scheduled every day of our cruise. My favorite excursion was the Hollywood Movie Tour, this is a must do if you are into movies at all. We visited many sites where movies and T.V. shows were filmed. You are on a small bus with about 10-12 other people. They have a television that shows you clips from movies and T.V. shows and there is a driver and a host. Our driver and host were great. Our other excursions consisted of golfing, horseback riding, helicopter ride, a couple of city tours and couple of island tours. After our seven days of cruising we disembarked at Honolulu for three full days in the Waikiki Beach area. 80% of Hawaii's population lives in this area. A big city with of course beautiful beaches and Hotels. On a scale odd 1-5 with 5 being the best I think this trip was a 3.5. It would have rated higher if it were not for the problem we had trying to eat on the cruise ship.
